Being the principal at Carl Sandburg Elementary School is rewarding everyday. I feel so fortunate to be able to work with such a highly professional staff, such passionate and involved parents, and so many great young minds. Together we are a true partnership focused on giving each and every child multiple opportunities to identify their strengths, find their passion, and gain important skills for next steps in their learning journey.
I grew up in rural Wisconsin on a dairy farm, where hard work and good problem solving were what it took to succeed. After working in the interior design and real estate fields, I followed my own three children to school. My classroom volunteering led me to choose education over engineering. I received my BS in Mathematics and my Elementary Education certificate from Metro State College of Denver in 1998. I taught at Lois Lenski Elementary in LPS as a classroom teacher and then as a technology teacher. In 2002, I completed my MA in Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Colorado-Denver and served as elementary assistant principal in Aurora Public Schools. In 2003, I was given the opportunity to return home to LPS as principal of Carl Sandburg Elementary School.
My husband and I live in Centennial and enjoy spending time with our three college students whenever we can. I enjoy driving to new destinations, golfing, non-fiction, dark chocolate and a good cup of coffee.
