In the Loop With Fifth Grade
Spring is finally here! The fifth grade students are hard at work on research report about the first sixteen Presidents of the United States. Each student selected one President to study and spent three weeks reading from different sources, taking notes and creating an outline. Now the students are in the process of writing the reports. The final copies will be written as books using Microsoft Publisher. Our final video of the year will be "Presidential Press Conferences" during which each student will take on the roll of a President and face student "reporters" who will ask questions about their terms in office.
In reading we are doing a review of the genre of Historical Fiction, focusing on literature about events from early United States history. The students will complete a book activity and book report on the book(s) they have selected.
In the Loop With Fourth Grade
The fourth grade students are now writing personal narratives. While brainstorming ideas for writing we enjoyed hearing about a variety of fun, fearful and fantastic experiences the kids have had. We look forward to reading these amazing adventures.
The next video for fourth grade will be a presentation using the document camera. The students will write a mini-quiz show about a book each has read. Then, using the document camera, each child will present the questions to the class. It should be a lot of fun giving the role of game show host a try!
