 Welcome to Mrs. Smith's Classroom
March 2010 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
Happy March! It was great to meet with all of you during parent teacher conferences. Your support at home shows in our classroom everyday. Thank you for reading, writing and doing math with your child every night. The have made great progress.
This month we have some exciting things happening. St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 and those tricky little leprechauns come and play tricks on us. We are going to build traps to see if we can catch them! Look for a letter to give more details. If you are willing to send in gold coins for the class that would be great or if anyone can send in gold rapped candy the leprechauns leave a little treat for the kids. (Rolos, Reeses peanut butter cups ect.)
This month we are learning about weather, clouds, the water cycle, and will start our reptile and amphibian units. If you can send in any egg cartons I will collect them as they come. We will start our insect unit in April with a trip to the Butterfly Pavilion on Tuesday, April 13th from 9:15am until 2:00pm. The cost for the bus and admission is $9.35. Please send in a check (no cash please) made out to Sandburg by Monday, March 30th. I would like to have four parents volunteer for this amazing field trip. If you are able to share part of your day on the 13th please contact me.
The scholastic book orders are coming home and will be due March 19th. Our classroom earns points for every order placed online. The web site it www.scholastic.com

Our school store is coming up in the next math unit. Please send in any old SMALL toys that the children can buy in our store. Stuffed animals, balls, restaurant  toys are perfect!
