 Welcome to Mrs. Reck-Merkel's Classroom
Dear Parents and Guardians,
 
            Welcome to Carl Sandburg Elementary School.  Your child has reached another milestone and will now begin his/her journey through elementary school!  It is my privilege as a kindergarten teacher to become your child’s companion in this process.  My primary goal as we move through the school year together is to instill a love of learning within your child.  I will accomplish this goal and prepare your child for first grade by involving him/her in stimulating, challenging, and fun lessons that focus on social, emotional and cognitive skills. I look forward to getting to know your child and you too!  If you have specific questions regarding Kindergarten at Sandburg please contact me at lreck-merkel@lps.k12.co.us.

**Late Start for Mrs. Merkel's Kindergarten Class. 

Due to the Professional Learning Communities work being done by the Sandburg staff on September 1, 2010, kindergarten students will begin class on the 1st at 11:01 a.m.  Please make sure students eat breakfast and a snack before coming to school. Half-day students will be dismissed at 1:02 p.m. to their parents for lunch. K+ students will eat a sack lunch at 1:00.  Full-day (K+) students will attend class from 11:01 a.m.-3:43 p.m.
