In the Writer’s Workshop students will be working on a variety of writing strategies.  We work with the 6 + 1 traits of writing which include Ideas, Word Choice, Voice, Organization, Sentence Fluency, Conventions, and Presentation.  The students will practice writing in a variety of forms including persuasive, narrative and expository. The students will also participate in the entire writing process including drafting, revising, editing and publishing.

Throughout the year we will also be exploring different forms of poetry.  Students will have a plethora of poems in their writing notebooks.

Students will also work on developing their spelling and vocabulary skills.  They will have weekly spelling, vocabulary, and prefix/suffix/root word tests.
