Testing Time!!!

Sandburg students will be checking to see how fit they have become throughout the school year with their end of the year President's Fitness Challenge.  All students, 1st through 5th, will take five tests to check their fitness levels in five different areas.  These areas are cardiovascular fitness (mile or 1/2 mile run), speed (shuttle run), muscular strength (pull-ups), muscular endurance (curl-ups), and flexibility (sit and reach).  Their results will be compared to what they completed in the fall.

Transformers, more than meets the eye!!

This year's field day will be held on May 20th.  As you can guess, the theme for the 2008 Field Day will be Transformers.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me at the school.

 Grading Note Minimize

2nd Trimester Grades, K-3rd

With changes made to the grading scale for K-3rd grade Physical Education, I am not on the same scale as classroom instructors.  Meets Grade Level would be considered an "A" while Exceeds Grade Level is considered at "A+".

 About Me Minimize

Hello.  I am Michael Rowe.  This is my fifth year teaching Physical Education and Bully Proofing at Carl Sandburg, and I am having a blast.

I have been teaching since 1998, after I graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Colorado State University (Go Rams!!!)  I have taught both elementary and high school, and I have to say, I enjoy the youngsters at Sandburg the most.

Besides teaching, I also coach baseball at Englewood High School.  This is my second year as the head coach.  Before I moved to Englewood, I was an assistant at Littleton High School for nine seasons.   I also am currently in graduate school at the University of Colorado in Denver studying for a Master's in English as a Second Language.
