Question of the Week - August 27, 2007
What dinosaur was mistakenly called a Brontosaurus for many years?

ANSWER: A new dinosaur fossil was found. It was an herbivore and was named Apatasaurus. Later, a paleontologist discovered a very big dinosaur fossil and it was named Brontosaurus. Eventually scientists realized the Apatasuarus fossil was just a kid dinosaur, and the "Brontosaurus" was a grown-up Apatasaurus. Since the name Apatasaurus was first in line, that's the name we use today. COOL FACT: The first nearly complete Apatasaurus fossil was found right here in Colorado.
