OFFICE SUPPLIES THAT WALK: did you know that all the creativity of our elementary school makes us big users of all kinds of office supplies: #2 pencils (thousands! a year), postit notes (hundreds), scissors (dozens) and pencil sharpeners (yes, even these get used up) regularly disappear. If you are doing spring cleaning, picking up a few things for the teachers, or thinking about end of the year gifts...these things are always welcome and a big help. So bring in your new and used office supplies, and put them in the workroom, or give your teacher a jump on next year!

Dear Sandburg Parents,
Thank you for a terrific year! You are great partners to us in this very important endeavor to educate your child and every child at Sandburg. Thank you for your persistence and patience in supporting your child at home with his/her homework and reading everyday. Thank you, also, for your many efforts to get your child to school on time everyday. And, thank you for your ongoing communication with your child’s teacher and me. We are better at what we do for all students because of your generous support.
Sandburg Elementary is a high achieving school because of the dedication and commitment of its staff and parents like you. You volunteer unconditionally of your time, your talents and your hard-earned resources. Your many hands and minds support students in all areas of learning from the classroom to the park to before-school book clubs. Because of your thousands of hours of involvement, our students enjoy our Ropes Course and Field Day events, and we celebrate as a community at the Fall Festival and Spring Art Show. We can’t thank you enough!
Plain and simple, Sandburg Elementary would not be the school of excellence it is without your generous financial support. Your contributions to PTO of $90,000 make it possible to provide the human resources necessary for additional reading/writing/math support to students and hands-on, real-world experiences through the sciences. Additionally, your giving makes it possible for our library-media centers to continue as a setting for collaborative teaching and enriched learning where students are using current media and technology. We couldn’t do it without you!
Summer is just days away. Keep your children reading! We want them to take dips in the pool, not dips in reading over the summer. I wish for you and your family a safe and fun-filled June, July and August. We will see you all at Sneak-a-Peek on Monday, August 18.
Thank you for everything!
Marj McDonald
Principal

Katie’s family business is Swart and Company, Exporters of Quality Flower Bulbs since 1935. Thank you, Katie, the tulips are beautiful!
