Happy February! We have just finished our unit on polar animals with a focus on animal adaptations. Ask your child about the animal they researched and what adaptations they have to help them survive where they live. You might be surprised at how much they have learned! In February we will learn about rocks and minerals, United States symbols, dental health and of course Valentine’s Day.
Our party will be on February 14th. Please have your child decorate a shoe box to bring to school on the 13th with UNADDRESSED valentines. Be creative with your box. Make a robot, princess, or their favorite animal. Use fun materials like lace, glitter, stickers, noodles, and paper, whatever you have around to make it fun. There are 23 students in the class. Please don’t send in the boxes before the 13th. They are fun but also very distracting!
To go along with our unit on Rocks and Minerals we will be making stone soup as a class. Please look for your assigned item in the Friday folder. Please bring the assigned item to school on Monday February 4th as we will make the soup in the morning. Please let me know if you can’t bring your item and I will provide it.
The Sandburg auction is February 23 from 6-9 pm at the Streets of Southglenn. We have the most adorable 3-D heart that Mrs. Vogt had the kids put together. I hope you can come and join us. More information can be found on the Sandburg website. Babysitting is being provided if you would need it for a small amount.
My daughter Erin is in Girl Scouts at Newton. Their troop is hosting a babysitting night the first Friday of the month. The cost is $15 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. They feed them pizza and have games and activities for them. If you are interested in more information please let me know. They all have great fun and it’s a cheap night out!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
